KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo’s downtown theatre complex will be reopening under new management in time for the Holiday movie season.
It has been closed since the Alamo Draft House pulled up stakes in April.
Now comes word that Kansas based AMC theatres will remodel the facility, installing their “Signature Recliners”.
They will also offer an expanded menu, perhaps not more than the Alamo offered but more than your traditional popcorn and JuJuBe selection. They also plan to offer beer, wine and cocktails from a remodeled concession area.
Work has reportedly already begun on the complex at South and Portage downtown.
AMC will be the third chain to move into the space. The Rave Theatres were first with their Cityplace 14, operating for six years downtown. Alamo Drafthouse was open for 3-1/2 years.
