THREE RIVERS (WKZO AM/FM) — They are going to try again to restart summer camping activities at Camp Eberhard near Three Rivers after about 4-dozen campers and staffers came down with symptoms from a nasty norovirus outbreak at the end of last month.
They sent over three hundred campers home two days early last week as a precaution.
It’s the same bug that disrupted schools in west Michigan last year and made Cruise Ship passengers miserable a few years ago.
State Health Spokesperson Angela Minicuci says victims suffer flu like symptoms.
The YMCA of Michiana operates the camp and they closed it on the advice of Michigan Department of Health officials and then sanitized the place.
The highly contagious bug can be transmitted from person to person, through food, water or on surfaces. It usually runs its course in a few days
