KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM)– The City of Kalamazoo has been using Fire Station #1 for storage since it was decommissioned years ago, but it’s located on a prime piece of downtown property and they plan to hold a meeting later today to help decide what to do with the place.
It’s not a pretty building. The brick structure was built in 1957, with a lot of large doors where fire trucks used to be housed. It sits on less than an acre at 116 West Cedar between South Rose and Burdick.Mayor Bobby Hopewell says they are looking for ideaS.
The forum will begin at 5:30 in the Van Deusen Room at the Main Branch of the Kalamazoo Public Library.
