KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Two interns trekking across the United States and Canada by passenger rail and public transportation stopped in Kalamazoo on Tuesday.
For New Jersey girls Caitlyn Boyle and Victoria Principato, it was day eight of their 10,000 mile trip. They took an indirect route, starting in New York City, then voyaging to Vermont, Montreal, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Chicago before making their way to southwest Michigan.
Principato said it’s part of the “Summer by Rail” program put together by the National Association of Railway Passengers.
“We’re both really excited to get to talk to different people on the train (and) hear their stories,” Principato said Tuesday morning.
Their 27-day journey will end in Washington, D.C.
