KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo’s County Fair has been around since before the Civil War, but this year the event will be geared mainly for today’s youth.
In fact it is being called the Kalamazoo County Youth Fair this year and it officially begins Tuesday.
Fair coordinator Josh Gowers says it has always been an opportunity for young future farmers and entrepreneurs to compete and to show off the results of their efforts over the past year through the 4-H program.
This year they are bringing extra focus to the other events that go along with those efforts.
He says they have even changed the vendor who will be providing the midway and the rides, because the group is more family friendly.
This year’s fair runs through Saturday at the Expo Center and Fairgrounds on Lake Street.
