EDWARDSBURG (WKZO AM/FM) — Reports of chlorine leaking from a train car as it rolled through southern Michigan triggered the mobilization of emergency and hazardous materials teams Saturday evening.
The train was stopped in an industrial park outside of Edwardsburg near Krause Road in Ontwa Township and emergency Crews from Canadian National Railroad and Berrien County were dispatched to the location to inspect the train.
They could find no leak, and the train was sent on its way.
Highly diluted Chlorine is used in swimming pools and public water supplies to kill bacteria. It caninjure and kill humans in high doses, by causing acute respiratory distress.
