GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A former fire chief will spend time behind bars for producing child pornography.
Ex-Allegan Fire Chief Matt Gillies received his sentences Monday, July 31, for one count of child sexually abusive activity and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving someone under the age of 13-years-old.
Both sentences will be served at the same time, and will keep Gillies in prison from just over seven years to 20 years. Last year he admitted to his crimes to a state trooper. Gillies pleaded guilty to the charges in June.
Police found evidence of his actions on both his home computer and a computer at the fire station. Gillies, a 16-year veteran firefighter who has been with the Allegan Fire District since 2008.
