LEELANAU CO, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information related to the recovery of a drowning victim on July 4th, 2017 in Lake Michigan northwest of Leland harbor.
In a Facebook post, the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office says Michigan State Police have produced a post mortem recreation photo that is shown above. The victim is a white male believed to be between the ages of 50-75 years old.
Also shown below is a photo of a small watercraft located 8.3 miles southwest of the body recovery location, closer to North Manitou Island. The dingy was originally a medium grey color with a black floor, but had been repainted olive drab which is now well worn. It is unknown if the victim and the recovered watercraft are related.
