DETROIT, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Kid Rock says he’s holding off on running for Senate.
For now, Rock whose real name is Robert Richie says he’s putting his Senate run on hold and instead he’s starting a non-profit organization to promote voter registration.
The Republican rock star made news earlier this month when he tweeted that he was seriously considering making a run for the U.S. Senate here in Michigan.
Rock said on his website that he decided to take a hard look to see if there was real support for him as a candidate, or if he was just “a fresh new news story.”
Rock said one thing he has seen over and over again is that people are unhappy with the government, but too few are registered to do anything about it. He added that he will hold a news conference in about six weeks to announce if he will run for the Senate or not.
