KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Formal criminal charges have been authorized against suspected double murderer Zachary Patten in Kalamazoo, but his first court appearance is being pushed off until a week from today on Thursday, August 3rd.
A judge has authorized charging Patten with open murder and a couple of felony gun counts for the shooting death of 31-year-old Graciela Portillo-Esparza a week ago today at the Americana Estates Mobile Home Park.
He is currently being held in the St. Joseph County Jail without bond, charged with the shooting death of Shane Richardson on the same night.
