DEARBORN (WKZO-AM/FM) — AAA says the average price for a gallon of gas in Michigan is up to $2.40.
That’s up five cents from last week and up 14 cents from the same time last year.
“We’ve got more demand for gas because people are traveling,” spokesperson Susan Hiltz said. “And we’re looking at a bit of a problem with not as much production going on.”
Hiltz said prices will continue to climb through the end of summer. She also expects the first major price drop in late fall when refineries begin producing cheaper winter blend fuel.
The early Monday average was $2.34 in Kalamazoo, $2.41 in Grand Rapids and $2.39 in Lansing.
