UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County child abuse case has resulted in the arrest of a man accused of allowing an infant to ingest morphine.
22-year old Nicholas Platek of Union City surrendered last night at the Branch County jail. He was booked on preliminary charges of possession of heroin, 25 grams or less and 2ND degree child abuse.
The Union City Village Police Department is handling the case, which was reported in May 2017..
According to warrant information provided by a Corrections officer at the Branch County Jail, the victim in the alleged offense is a 2-year old who tested positive for morphine. Platek is free on bail with his bond set at $30,000, ten percent allowed.
His Branch County District Court arraignment is set for August 7, 2017.
