BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM/FM) — Battle Creek Police are looking for a gunman who shot a 21-year-old male in the shoulder on Redner Avenue near Coolidge Street at about 2:42 p.m. Sunday.
The victim was rushed to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital for emergency treatment and is expected to survive. Several empty casings were found at the scene, but apparently only one hit the victim.
Detectives have released little information about the circumstances that led to the shooting, but they think the gunman and the victim were acquaintances. They also suspect there may be witnesses who have not yet come forward.
A relative took the victim to the hospital, but dropped him off and did not stick around.
