KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — It’s a roadmap into the future. Kalamazoo City Commissioners are expected to approve the “Imagine Kalamazoo 2025” strategic vision Monday night.
The city has heard from thousands of citizens, conducted polls and done other studies on how to make Kalamazoo a better place to live, raise a family, enjoy a safe and secure neighborhood and provide affordable public services.
The commissioners will also be asked to spend nearly $1.5 million in aspirational money to begin fulfilling some of the projects citizens want to see. FFE Coordinator Steve Brown said some of the money will go into improving lighting at night in a high-crime area on the northside by trimming trees away from streetlights.
They also plan to put sidewalks along Woodward Avenue past the Interfaith Homes, and make improvements to the Frays, Rockwell and Davis Street parks.
