DOWAGIAC (WKZO-AM/FM) — A clogged toilet could cost a Kalamazoo woman more time in jail after the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team got a tip that she and several others would be traveling there to sell methamphetamine.
Detectives spotted their vehicle in the parking lot of a business on North Front Street in the City of Dowagiac on Thursday. Two males and a female were detained.
Later, when they reviewed store surveillance video, it revealed the 32-year-old woman rushed to the bathroom when officers first arrived. She was taken into custody and charged with possession of an analogous substance, conspiracy to deliver meth and destruction of evidence.
The next day, detectives returned to the store and were told the toilet in the women’s restroom was not working. With the help of the Dowagiac Department of Public Works, they dismantled the toilet and found a bag of methamphetamine and syringes clogging the plumbing.
The female suspect now also faces a more-serious count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine as well.
