PORTAGE (WKZO-AM/FM) — A Portage man who has already served time for attacking a woman in a local Portage Park, has been accused of doing it again.
Jamal Johnson, 21, was formally charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault and battery for allegedly grabbing a female jogger in a remote part of Lakeview Park in late June and throwing her to the ground.
The woman started yelling and struggling. The suspect fled because there were other people at the park.
Johnson was convicted in 2015 of a very similar crime along the Bicentennial Trail in Portage. That assault also failed when the would-be victim started screaming and Johnson was forced to flee.
He was sentenced to six months and released last year.
The repeat offence could mean a longer sentence this time. He is being held on $50,000 bond.
