YPSILANTI (WKZO-AM/FM) — A man who was born in Sturgis and grew up in Kalamazoo has been named the new athletic director at Eastern Michigan University.
Scott Wetherbee is coming back to Michigan from Mississippi.
He previously worked in the athletic offices at Mississippi State, East Carolina, San Diego State and Fresno State. His career began as an intern in the ticket office at Western Michigan University.
Wetherbee said he’s looking forward to the opportunity in Ypsilanti.
“My family and I are just grateful for this opportunity,” Wetherbee said. “I cannot wait to get moved here and hit the ground running.
Heather Lyke, Eastern’s former athletic director, opted to take the same position at the University of Pittsburgh.
