KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — With the deadline just days away, Kalamazoo Public Schools trustees will approve the district’s budget for the coming school year Thursday night.
There may be some 11th-hour adjustments, however.
Changes in teacher pension reforms in Lansing freed up additional cash, and lawmakers allocated an extra $25 for every public high school student in state just before final approval of the school aid budget.
While Supt. Michael Rice opposed the pension changes, the district will take the cash. We may find out tonight if they have any specific plans for the unexpected windfall.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
