MOTTVILLE (WKZO-AM/FM) — Investigators are looking into a fire burned that for hours late Monday at the Green Stream mulch plant in southwest St. Joseph County.
The fire put up a plume that could be seen for miles, as acres of recyclable materials went up in flames and smoke near Mottville.
Fire crews from over a dozen departments in southern Michigan and northern Indiana fought not only the flames, but dry conditions and high winds. They had to truck water into the remote location on M-103 near U.S. 12, which was still ablaze for many hours after it started.
There were no reports of any injuries, but the operation is destroyed.
