KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Humane Society says it hasn’t made much headway toward achieving its $4.75 million goal for a new facility.
They had around $3 million in the bank when they started their public capital campaign. After two weeks, they remain at $3 million.
“We have a long way to go,” Aaron Winters, the director of the organization, said Monday.
The organization currently works out of a converted bridal shop on South Westnedge Avenue.
“It was a fairly new bridal shop when we moved into it, but you can imagine running a clinic, a food bank and other things out of a bridal shop,” Winters said.
They’re proposing a new King Highway facility with multiple amenities. It would be four times the size of the current facility.
They’re still asking for the public’s support. More information and a donation link can be found here.
