KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — One person is dead after a head-on collision between three vehicles on U.S. 131.
The three-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon near Mile Marker 41. Of the 12 victims, seven were children.
Investigators say an 18-year-old southbound driver crossed the freeway’s median and slammed into two other vehicles coming in the opposite direction.
A passenger riding in the southbound vehicle, 20-year-old Lawrence White, suffered critical injuries. He later died.
The seven children range in age from 6 months to 13 years old. They suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
