BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM/FM) — A 35-year-old man is in custody in Battle Creek for a shooting that left a 45-year-old resident wounded.
The victim was shot three times in his right leg at a business at 629 Capital Avenue Southwest, just a few minutes after midnight Saturday.
The victim and the gunman were standing outside the Liberty Mart convenience store when the shooting occurred. The news release does not say what may have sparked the violence.
A description of the gunman was released to the media and tips developed quickly, leading to the arrest. The suspect was lodged in the Calhoun County Jail, pending the issuance of formal charges by the prosecutor’s office.
The victim was taken to Bronson Battle Creek Hosptial for emergency surgery and is listed in good condition.
