KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo County Judge has decided to let a jury hear the case of Janel Boer who is charged by prosecutors with an elaborate scheme to murder her husband on Valentine’s Day and make it look like a botched murder/suicide.
Police responded to a 911 call from their Pavilion Township home last February 14th and found him dead from a head wound and her bleeding from a gunshot wound to the arm.
She claimed her husband, Gregory, tried to kill her but only wounded her and then shot himself in the head.
But forensics investigators say the angles and the blood spatter evidence and other clues don’t match her story.
The couple was going through an ugly divorce after a troubled marriage. It’s a fascinating case that is now headed to trial.
She remains in custody charged with open murder and felony firearms.
