PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — The Portage Fire Marshal will be trying to determine what sparked a fire that caused an estimated $105,000 damage to a production facility on Vanderbilt Road late Thursday afternoon.
The first units on the scene spotted light white smoke coming from the roof and loading dock areas at the J. Rettenmaier facility.
The firm specializes in turning natural fibers into new products.
Fire crews had the fire put out within 25 minutes and spend the next five hours on ventilation, overhaul and investigation.
No injuries were reported.
