BENTON HARBOR (WKZO AM/FM) — A police pursuit that crossed four counties began with a report of the theft of $200 from a poker table at the Firekeeper’s Casino, and ended near the lakeshore.
Kalamazoo County Deputies spotted him racing west on I-94, and then had to break off the chase after three attempts to blow out his tires with stop sticks failed. Soon after, a State Trooper spotted him passing a semi on the right shoulder.
They picked up the pursuit, traveling at about 100 mph all the way through Van Buren County and into northern Berrien County, where the driver lost control and went into a cable barrier near Benton Harbor. The driver tried to flee on foot but was quickly arrested.
The 33-year-old from Tampa, Florida has been booked in the Berrien County Jail for fleeing and eluding, resisting, and driving without a license.
