UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — The Missile Defense Agency has sent a signal to North Korea by destroying a target missile launched at the U.S. with an interceptor dispatched from Vandenberg Air Force Base.
It successfully took out the target missile somewhere in space over the Pacific.
It’s the kind of missile that would be installed at Fort Custer if the local base is picked for the nation’s third defensive launch site.
Senator Gary Peters has co-sponsored legislation that would speed up the process for picking that location.
Fort Custer is one of three finalists for the $3.2-billion installation. They estimate it would create hundreds of jobs and require a like number to do construction.
