KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — One of two former Western Michigan University football players who were suspended after they were arrested for armed robbery last fall has now been sentenced.
Ronald George, 19, was given two-and-a-half-to-10-years in prison for armed robbery. In exchange for the guilty plea and his cooperation in prosecuting Bryson White, other charges were dropped.
Prosecutors say both men forced their way into the off-campus apartment of a woman and stole her cash and marijuana at gunpoint last August.
Before he met White, George was an honor student with a full scholarship embarking on what turned out to be a dream season for the Broncos. Instead, he is going to prison.
