BATTLE CREEK (WKZO AM/FM) — A Springfield man has been found guilty of manslaughter and a gun felony for the drug related shooting death of 48-year-old Kelvin Pratcher on Cherry Street last October. 27-year-old James Hatfield was arrested running from the scene of the shooting, the gun used in the crime found nearby.
The jury spent part of Thursday and all day Friday deliberating, agreeing to a verdict just as the judge was getting ready to adjourn for the weekend.
He would have to serve two years for using a gun during a felony and then begin serving what could be up to 15 years for the Manslaughter. Sentencing is set for early July 3rd.
