KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Komen Southwest Michigan “Race For The Cure” is set for Sunday at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners.
Travis Mix with Susan G. Komen Michigan said that is a new location for the event. They plan on using a decent amount of the Gilmore property for the mile walk, 5K race and other attractions.
The goal is to raise at least $50,000. They already know where the money’s going.
“Making sure the women and men in our community have the resources to get diagnostics and screenings and making sure they’re up-to-date with their breast health,” Mix said. “We also put money toward national research as well.”
The site and same-day registration opens at 11 a.m. A kids sprint is set for 12:30 p.m. It will be followed by a survivor and fighter photo and a survivor stroll.
A full schedule and registration information can be found here.
The 5K starts at 2 p.m. The mile walk at 2:05 p.m.
