PRESQUE ISLE (WKZO-AM/FM) — A man who murdered a woman from Marshall last July, then tried to destroy the corpse has agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder.
At 55-years-old, it’s unlikely Brenton Walker of Presque Isle County will ever see freedom again.
In exchange for the plea, a first-degree murder charge was dropped.
Walker did not need any coaxing to admit his guilt in court. When asked why he was guilty, he said he shot Heather Young twice, burned her body and then dismembered her with a chain saw.
Those involved in the case say it was one of the most gruesome they have ever dealt with.
Heather Young was visiting the area, reportedly had a fight with a boyfriend, and stopped at a bar. That’s where she was last seen leaving with Walker.
What was left of her body was found a month later on his brother’s property.
Walker will be sentenced on June 12.
