OSHTEMO (WKZO AM/FM) — An innovative crook who used the internet to lure victims to muggings is in custody after he may have done it a time too often and too close to home.
County Deputies got a complaint from a victim who offered to sell video game equipment on the internet, and was lured to Evergreen South Apartments by a buyer in Oshtemo, When they went to the apartments to make the trade, they were met by an armed robber threatened them with a gun.
Within the next hour, Deputies got two similar complaints from victims who appeared at the same apartment complex with items for sale, only to be robbed.
Deputies were able to develop information that the armed robber lived in the complex, tracking him down and making the bust.
The 22-year-old is being held on outstanding warrants for unrelated crimes until they can get warrants charging him with the new crimes.
