KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A 22-year-old Kalamazoo resident is jailed for operating while impaired after Kalamazoo Public Safety says the driver sheared off a power pole along Portage Street early Tuesday.
It happened after 3 a.m. The vehicle, according to a press release from law enforcement, left the initial scene, but was found nearby.
A downed power line forced a temporary closure of Portage Street between Strockbridge and Egleston avenues. The road has since been reopened.
The incident remains under investigation. Those with additional information are being urged to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at (269) 337-8994 or Silent Observer at (269) 343-2100.
