KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — Two renters will be looking for new housing after a home on Kalamazoo’s south side caught fire Tuesday night.
Kalamazoo Public Safety was dispatched just after 6 p.m. to the home in the 3700 block of Duke Street and discovered that one of the two apartments in the converted home was engulfed in flames.
The occupants escaped without injury. The two story home was gutted by the fire which spread from the back apartment into the second story and then into the attic. It took fire fighters about an hour to put the fire out.
The cause is undetermined.
No damage estimate was released, but insurance assessors will be inspecting the place to determine whether it’s a total loss.
