KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Considering the wet weather, a large crowd turned out in Bronson Park Saturday for an environmental rally and march sponsored by the League of Conservation Voters.
It was one of many held throughout the state and the nation, primarily to protest Trump Administration policies on the environment. Nationally the issues were clean air and water and energy policies that reverse efforts to promote more renewable energies and promote petroleum and even coal.
Locally the issues are threats to cut all funding for the Great Lakes, and to close the EPA office in Chicago.
U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow was among the speakers at the Bronson Park event. She says “The Trump Administration also needs to hear the voices of folks in Kalamazoo and all over Michigan who are fighting to defend the Great Lakes, tackle threats like Asian Carp, and preserve the beaches and fisheries that are so important to our Michigan economy and way of life.
