PHILADELPHIA (WKZO-AM/FM) — Pundits thought that Corey Davis might have a few things working against him going into the NFL Draft: Playing for a Mid-American Conference school like Western Michigan University and an ankle injury that kept him from participating in some of the pre-draft showcases.
That’s why it was a surprise when the Titans, who had the fifth pick, took Davis.
Davis said its special, considering that out of high school, the only offer he got was from WMU. Top ten is rarified air and it usually means a gigantic salary with a big signing bonus, and all the pressure that comes with it.
Only one other Bronco has ever been picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. That was Jason Babin in 2004. He was the 27th pick.
Only one other wide receiver from the MAC has ever been picked in the first round. That was Marshall standout Randy Moss, who is favored to be picked for the Professional Football Hall of Fame next year.
