KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Next Tuesday is an election day in Michigan and two funding issues are on the ballot in Kalamazoo County.
Voters will be deciding whether to renew a school funding issue, and whether to increase the surcharge on phone lines to consolidate and upgrade 9-1-1.
The Michigan Secretary of State’s office says it’s not too late to vote absentee if you can’t make it to the polls on Tuesday.
Spokesman Fred Woodhams says it may involve a trip to the local clerk’s office. You can vote early or order an absentee ballot through Saturday.
Your best bet might be just to voter early right at the clerk’s office if you qualify.
Woodhams says it starts with finding out whether or not there will be an election in your area. You may find a sample ballot identical to the one you would receive on Tuesday.
You can do that online at www.michigan.gov/vote.
It’s hard to predict what the turnout might be. It depends on what is on the ballot, but chances are it will be low. It just means your vote is worth that much more.
