HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) – A retailer that specializes in teen clothing is closing 16 of their 40 stores in Michigan.
Rue 21 is a Pennsylvania-based teen apparel company and says on its website the closing of the stores was a “difficult but necessary decision,” and notes they will still operate online and keep several hundred other stores open nationwide.
Included on the hit list are stores in the Maple Hill Pavilion near Kalamazoo, in the Riley Plaza in Holland. They are also closing stores in Benton Harbor and Lansing and two in Grand Rapids.
They haven’t announced how many may be laid off because of the closings, or when they will close or if liquidation sales are planned.
