IRS Spokesman Luis Garcia says the worst thing you can do is just blow it off.
He says if you need more time to put your financial house in order, they have a form for that, but you still have to pay what you think you may owe.
If you can file but don’t have the money, they have a form for that too, but you will still have to pay what you can and make arrangements to pay the rest.
That goes double says State Treasury officials, who have their own stack of forms and lists of penalties.
