KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A suspect has been arrested in Kalamazoo’s latest homicide.
Capt. Victor Ledbetter said the 20-year-old who shot and killed 22-year-old Bernard Kye in the 900 block of North Church Street on Monday night was taken into custody without incident. He said they identified a suspect through evidence and leads followed up by detectives and the gunman has reportedly confessed.
The suspect is expected to be formally charged at some time Thursday. They are seeking warrants charging the suspect with felony murder, felon in possession of a gun, and carrying a concealed weapon. Other charges may be added.
The 40-year-old woman who was wounded in the leg continues her recovery.
