KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo teen with a long criminal record, even though he is only 17, was spotted in the 1000 block of Bridge Street by an officer on routine patrol about 4:30 pm Wednesday.
He was observed trying to tuck something into his pants, and began running when he saw police.
They also knew he was wanted on a court order.
He disobeyed orders to stop and began running through yards, tossing an object as he fled. The chase continued until the teen came to a fence he could not get over, and surrendered.
They checked the object he tossed and the say it was a loaded semi-automatic handgun.
He was booked into the county jail on concealed weapons, felony firearm, resisting and marijuana charges, pending arraignment and a bond hearing.
