KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A 17-year-old and a 19-year-old spent the weekend jailed for home invasion after they were identified as suspects in a residential hold-up in the 2500 block of East Cork Street in Kalamazoo.
A perimeter was set up and made contact with the victims.
Kalamazoo Public Safety officers who were familiar with the suspects searched the area surrounding the Edison Neighborhood and spotted them on a porch in the 1400 block of Lay Boulevard.
They were arrested, but no weapon was found.
A tracking dog search of the path they would have taken to get to the crime scene resulted in the discovery of a loaded handgun in a wooded area.
The suspects, both from Kalamazoo, were booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail for home invasion and carry a concealed weapon pending arraignment.
They may face additional charges. The ownership of the gun is being traced.
