KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Two teenagers are facing charges after a drive-by purse-snatching near Reed Avenue and High Street on Saturday.
A woman reported she was walking in the area when she was accosted by the group, who drove up in a car and got out at around 5 p.m. One of them grabbed her purse away, investigators said.
The teens piled back into the car and sped away. A witness was able to give a detailed description of the getaway car to Kalamazoo Public Safety and officers spotted the vehicle in the 800 block of South Rose Street.
Two teens fled on foot when they saw the officers and were both quickly apprehended and the purse recovered.
A 16-year-old was booked into the juvenile home on an unarmed robbery charge and for resisting and obstructing an officer. A 15-year-old was turned over to his parents, to be charged later with resisting.
The purse was returned to the victim.
