KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A 24-year-old Kalamazoo man is jailed for resisting and obstructing and for multiple gun and drug felonies after a struggle with a Kalamazoo Public Safety officer over a loaded nine-millimeter handgun during a traffic stop.
Police say the altercation, which occurred at around 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Reed Avenue, began after he stepped out of the car and reached for the weapon in the pocket of his sweatshirt. The officer wrestled with the man after grabbing his arm, according to a press release.
He was found in possession of a second full magazine, methamphetamine and marijuana. Police claim a strong marijuana odor was coming from his vehicle.
There were no injuries reported.
