UNDATED (WKZO-AM/FM) — Winter is making a brief comeback in west Michigan on Friday, but the U.S. Geological Survey says spring-like conditions have already arrived three to four weeks earlier than normal in the southern half of the United States.
West Michigan Meteorologist T.J. Turnage says get used to it. Climate change means severe storms, like this week’s unusual February tornadoes, as well as earlier springs and milder winters.
It could mean more mosquito and tick-borne diseases, changes in tourism, and changes in agriculture, Turnage said.
Forecasters say another warm-up begins this weekend.
It follows the warmest February on record, which follows three of the warmest years in history.
