KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — The average price for a gallon of gas in Kalamazoo has spiked to $2.45.
That’s up about 20 cents from earlier this week. It’s the country’s second highest overnight spike, only behind Muncie, Ind.
Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy.com said it’s linked directly to the roll-out of cleaner-burning and more-expensive summer blend fuel.
“It’s about a four-step process to get to that summer gasoline,” DeHaan said. “That first step was made Monday, and it was accompanied by a slight bump in wholesale price.”
DeHaan said drivers can expect prices to trickle down in the coming days before another spike.
Prices are up to $2.48 in Grand Rapids and $2.45 in Lansing.
