KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — It’s Fat Tuesday, the last day before Lent, and bakeries have been preparing for days creating the thousands of paczki that will be consumed at offices and homes throughout Michigan.
But you won’t find any of the greasy, heavy sugar bombs at the office of Borgess dietician Alexandra Cook. She said there too much unsaturated fat and sugar.
It’s not a meal, it’s a desert and should be treated as one, Cook said. She said it’s okay for a one-day treat, but she says you would still be better off with fruit — unless you plan going to the gym later today to work it off.
The average adult would need to run seven to ten miles, or do jumping jacks for two hours, or do 7,000 sit-ups, or do two hours of Zumba to burn off the 700 to 800 calories that a packzi can pack.
