SOUTH HAVEN (WKZO-AM) — The Van Buren County SWAT team managed to successfully defuse what they thought might be an armed stand-off with a wanted fugitive and parole absconder in South Haven this week.
Tilano Terry Taylor has a violent criminal history including firearms and drugs, and when he was spotted by a patrolman at Blue Star Highway and Phoenix Road on Thursday, the officer began a pursuit.
Police say that Tailor managed to duck into an apartment at the Briar Hills complex before officers could catch up.
A search of his car turned up marijuana, a loaded handgun and a box of ammo.
Taylor refused to come out of his apartment so a warrant was obtained and the Multi-jurisdictional SWAT team was mobilized.
They were able to make contact with Taylor and after two hours, talk him into surrendering. He is being held for violating parole and multiple new gun and drug charges.
