BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Evidence is mounting that the suspect in a cold blooded killing in Kalamazoo may have started a fire that caused $35,000 damage to a home in Battle Creek.
Apparently evidence was found that a flammable liquid was used to start the fire at 109 Oneita St. on December 18.
The fire reportedly began just hours after the tenant, Kevin Stanfill had been notified by his landlord that he was about to be evicted for non-payment.
Stanfill’s current address is the Kalamazoo County Jail where he is being held without bond, charged with the execution-style slaying of his wife Kelly Ann.
They had moved into the rental on the north side of Battle Creek in October. A month later detectives say she was shot to death by her husband in a field in northern Kalamazoo County.
The fire occured a month after that, and it would be another month before the Sister of Kevin Stanfill led police to the body, and Stanfill was arrested.
