Monday night a big crowd met at the Washington Writers Academy to get an update on the situation. A meeting was also held with parents from Woodward Elementary.
Wednesday night a community forum will be held at the Old Kalamazoo Central on Westnedge that everyone can attend.
Wednesday night’s forum gets underway at the Community Education Center {Old Central} at 6:30.
Three dozen schools statewide are on the closure list, including three in Benton Harbor and 21 in Detroit.
The SRO is currently in a 30-day review period to determine their next steps. There are other options if they determine that transferring all the student to other schools would place a hardship on children. At this point the criteria for that remains unclear.
