KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Detectives say Kelly Ann Karl Stanfill, whose body was found dumped in a field along AB Avenue in Cooper Township last week, may have actually killed on Nov. 18.
According to investigators, Kevin Stanfill’s sister was in his van when he drove his wife to the location last year. The two walked out into the field, his sister heard five shots and only Kevin Stanfill came back. The sister led police back to the scene a week ago, saying her brother threatened to kill her if she talked.
Thursday, Kevin Stanfill was charged with open murder and three gun felonies. He was also ordered held without bond. Stanfill, who has a long history of criminal activity, was believed to be abusive.
The victim leaves three young children behind.
Now, police say they are investigating to see if Kevin Stanfill, who owns a van similar to one that was involved in a hit-and-run in the Edison Neighborhood, was also responsible for that crime. A man and his two young sons were injured in the incident, which was captured on a surveillance camera.
